Assignment:  Cell Theory Timeline Foldable

You will create a timeline foldable to organize information about five very influential scientists, “giants,” that helped to establish the cell theory as we know it today.  These “giants” include Robert Hooke, Anton Van Leeuwenhoek, Matthias Schleiden, Theodor Schwan, and Rudolph Virchow.  Your foldable will be attached to page 6 in your notebook.

Directions for the foldable:

  1. Fold a piece of paper the long way (hot dog style).
  2. Cut the top piece into 5 flaps.
  3. On the outside of each flap, in chronological order, write the scientist’s name and dates (of scientific contributions to cell theory).  Add a picture - either of the scientist, or of something that relates to their contribution to cell theory. Color your picture.
  4. On the inside of each flap, write their contribution to the Cell Theory.

Rubric:

Scientists' names                                               _____________ / 10

Dates of contributions                                         _____________ / 15

Color picture                                                       _____________ / 25
